The mentor program
Every year nearly 3000 students arrive at the University of Stavanger. To make sure they get the best possible welcome, we in StOr arrange a mentor program also called Fadder week, every year at semester start.
During Fadder week we make sure the students get to know their campus, Stavanger city and each other. In addition its an excellent opportunity to get to know the nearly 50 organizations we have at UiS. These have stalls in the fadder village, and are waiting for the new students to pick their organization.
During Fadder week the students will experience concerts, competitions, stand-up, helicopter rides, bar-to-bar walks and much more! Fadder is also a mentor arrangement. New students are linked with Fadders from their chosen line of study. Through associating with the more experienced students, the new students will be able to adapt easier to the new life a s a student.
Would you like to be a Fadder and be part of the welcoming committee for the new students?
Every year we will post a link where students can sign up as Fadder. The link will be available until Juli, when it will be removed.
As Fadder you will get to know many new faces and join in the fun all week long together with new and old students from all over the place!
You can also take a look at the Fadder website.
Do you want to lead Fadder next year?
StOr is looking for next years leader, who will be responsible for leading the Fadder board, and see through Fadder week. Together you will make sure that all new students for the semester of 2012/2013 will get the welcome they deserve at the University of Stavanger.
The leader for Fadder at UiS should give the students a huge welcomee and invite them to take part of the social environment at UiS! StOr wants Fadder week to invite students to the student life that Stavanger has to offer, student organizations and bar associations and other opportunities to create a better student environment. The Fadder leader has to be structured, committed and happy.
The fadder board is responsible for all administrative tasks such as getting stands, safety, press, evening activities and more, as well as working with UiS, welfare organizations and other collaborates and sponsors. The most important task is working with the bar associations and student organizations to make a brilliant arrangement!
