"Focus on the students"

 

The red list thinks that we as student politicians first and foremost have to work for the students. The quality of teaching and student everyday life are the mort important matters. We aim to be more active and take initiative towards our institution. It is important that student politicians do more than just sit in discussion meetings and dinners, but work hard and show concrete results! We promise to do our best when WE represent YOU in the SP!

 

Students in NOKAS

We want to continue the work of creating a daytime offer of study halls and lecture possibilities for students in the town centre. We want the students in our region to be an important and visible part of Stavanger. This is a case that was raised on our initiative in the SP in 2010.

 

New travel-card for students

We will fight for no upper age limit on the student travel-card, that it should be valid for the whole county, and also cover the night-buss. We already work through StOr, directly with Kolumbus and the County to make a new and better travel offer for students. This is a direct result of the Politics of the Red List.

 

Parking huse on campus

We want a parking house on campus. This, along with the improved offer in public transport, will give us a proper solution of the current transportation issuees at UiS. A parking house will also free up space for more student halls on campus.

 

Increased quality of education through the improvement of quality- and evaluationsystems at UiS.

If one wants to do something about the quality of education at UiS, it must be done through the existing framework. We do our work through representing the students in the "kvalitetsutvalg", "læringsmiljøutvalg" and educationboard to (among other things) improve and make available those systems for securing quality and evaluation that we already have in place at the university. This also involves a commitment to the University Pedagogic course (Uni.Ped) as an obligatory course for all lecturers in the space of two years. We also want UiS to work towards new and better ways of teaching and holding exams, such as seminar teaching, video transfers, increased use of group and home exams etc. We will also work for better follow up, and the increased use of students in practicality.

 

UiS and environmental responsibility

UiS have to take environmental issues seriously. We have to look into research on renewable energy and environmental research within the petroleum sector. It is important that we work for a better sorting of waste and recycling stations in all UiS buildings. At UiS we should have an active relationship with our environment.

 

Increased investments in the student community Folken

If Stavanger as a student city is going to be a reality, and a good place to be for students, it is critical that UiS and the students themselves lead the way. We have to give our student community a realistic framework to relate to, to avoid another deficit year for Folken. Every krone spent on the student community is returned as happy and satisfied students who pass their exams and finish their chosen paths of studies.

 

We will take responsibility for student politics on a National level

We will work to continue the principal of free education in Norway. All education should be free, and not dependent on peoples economical background. We also want to fight to keep the welfare organizations who are the students primary helpers in every day life. We want to work towards the increased building of student halls of residence, and increase the focus on higher education in norway. We also want to work for better equality within the academia in Norway.
