The class trustee should be the students voice. The trustee should help the students in their class to achieve the highest level of quality in their education.
An example of a challenge a class trustee might face, is when a class has a high percentage of fails. In this case the trustee can get in contact with StOr and try to solve the problem. Together we can try to find out why there are so many who fail the subject, and what can be done to improve the overall grades of the class. StOr can help by assigning student assistants, raise the quality of the lectures, change the curriculum etc.
There is also a lot of positive things the class trustee can contribute with, such as arranging get-togethers, join bar associations, arrange class trips, competitions and other social arrangements.
UiS also provides the trustee with an important role. UiS is committed to see through an early dialogue and a finishing dialogue in all subjects, to make sure the subjects are evaluated and possibly improved. As Class Trustee you are responsible for seeing through the dialogues with your class, without the presence of the lecturer. The early dialogue is at the beginning of the semester, and the finishing dialogue is at the end.
The evaluation often concerns the curriculum. Examples can be if the teacher facilitates properly for the students to get through the whole reading list etc? Both positive and negative aspects should be brought up in this dialogue. When the dialogue is over the Class Trustee should rapport on the results to the Lecturer. This means he/her can get a feedback on his work, what is good and where there is room for improvement.
The class itself elects its trustee. This is dine in a lecture led by the lecturer. After a student is elected, the lecturer should have the contact information of the student, so StOr can get in touch at a later time. All trustees that we receive the contact information for will be invited to a class trustee course held by StOr each semester.
