The board's role
The board manages and runs the organization between annual meetings, and is the organization's second highest authority; after the annual meeting. The board's duties vary from organization to organization, but more effort is always expected from a board member than from an ordinary member. One of the most important tasks of the board is to decide which activities an organization should engage in - and secure funding for these. The income of an organization can come from membership fees, support from UiS, the Danish Welfare Council or through foundations and free funds. It is also possible to have a deductible for the events that are organised.

Open fund:
Frifond offers various schemes aimed at different target groups, including Frifond music, Frifond theatre, and Frifond children and young people. To apply for support, the group must consist of a minimum of three people, and the activity must primarily take place in their own municipality. Organized sports activities are not supported, and at least 1/3 of the participants must be under 26 years of age. The activity must be based on voluntary efforts, and there is no fixed application deadline. Applications can be sent continuously, and further information and the application form can be found here.

The savings bank foundations:
Many savings bank foundations around the country are tasked with supporting various forms of volunteering. Two specific foundations that support student associations are Sparebankstiftelsen SR-Bank and Skandiabanken's "Framgang Sammen."

Savings bank foundation SR-Bank:
Supports initiatives within culture, growing up environment, sports, outdoor life and competence. The focus is on creating activities that benefit many, based on voluntary efforts. The application form and more information can be found here.

Skandiabanken's "Progress Together":

Supports ideas and projects that promote good self-esteem and socialization for children and young people in Norway. The projects must contribute to equality and be independent of religion, gender, health, ethnic background or sexual orientation. The focus is also on developing knowledge and skills in an inclusive way. The application form and more information can be found here.

You can read more about operating funds from the Student Parliament here.

Operating funds are financial support for student organizations and line associations that have signed a cooperation agreement with StOr. These funds are allocated once a year. The guidelines and application form can be found at the bottom of this page. It is the student parliament at UiS that processes the applications for the organizations at UiS, following a recommendation from the work committee. The application deadline was 21 December for 2024.

At the bottom of this page you will find questions and answers to simplify the application process.

Manager and/or financial manager.

All line associations and student organizations at UiS must have a cooperation agreement with StOr. The agreement gives you as an organization some rights, such as being able to apply for operating funds. It also places certain expectations on you, such as participating in Engagement meetings.

Send an email to laringsmiljo@stor.uis.no and ask. You can also come to the students' house to sign to be absolutely sure.
Yes. In order to ensure that the operating funds go to the right purposes, there must be an account in the organisation's name. To get this, you also need an organization number.
Some organizations charge a membership fee for them, it will be easy to know how many members you have. For others, the number is more arbitrary: "everyone who attends x study" or "All students in Stavanger" here you can start from how many participants you have at your biggest event.

Signed minutes from the Annual Meeting / General Assembly
During the Annual Meeting, Minutes must be written, and these signed and sent to Brønnøysund to update the overview of who is on the board. We want this to ensure that the board is elected properly. (New organizations send us minutes from the founding meeting)

Signed accounts and balance sheet
We want this to ensure good financial management, as well as to gain an insight into how the organization is doing financially. This will be an important part of the processing of support. (Signed accounts for the last financial year, i.e. 2022 at this time. (For new organisations, we only want a balance sheet overview.
