Sara Bianca Beitz

What is your motivation to apply for the position?
Dear students! In the university board, I want to contribute to the development of the quality of education and the learning environment at the institution in a time characterized by change.

I have been involved since my first year as a student. For the past two years, I have worked full-time as deputy and then head of our student democracy. Throughout these years, my interest in student representation has grown, and I have strong motivations to continue influencing the institution. This autumn I will return to my studies, but have no plans to stop representing the students.

My involvement stems from my fondness for the student environment and teaching, as well as a burning sense of justice.

Write about your relevant experiences
My time in student politics has been particularly characterized by speaking up for international students. UiS is a university characterized by high proportions of international students and staff. I think it goes without saying that all students at the institution should be represented.

I have worked actively against the government's wish to introduce tuition fees for international students. International exchange of views, international cooperation and international impulses in academia are preconditions for Norway to be prepared to meet international issues and challenges. Furthermore, internationality has an intrinsic value for the institution. Culture and language exchange help shape the students.

Name three matters you will work for
– International students
– Flexible courses
- Campus development

The sector is undergoing restructuring, which with the help of good business management will be able to be used for further development and be a direction-setter for the university's future. My goal is for UiS to be an educational institution that offers relevant and modern education of high quality. Students must be involved and included in research at the institution. The campus must be characterized by open communication and motivating facilities.

Life as a student at UiS should be exciting and meaningful. Then the students must have the prerequisites required to live healthy, safe lives. I am particularly interested in student volunteering and student health services.

Trustees at the institutions must have good conditions to be able to influence. It is time to meet the student generation's wishes for flexible and interdisciplinary educations.

Why should you be elected for this position?
With me on the board, you will get a forward-leaning, competent and ambitious representative.
