The student election started Wednesday this week with speeches and cake, yet many students do not know what it is. So what exactly is a student choice? We promised you the student choice of 1-2-3 and here it is:

1. The student choice gives students at UiS the opportunity to tell what they think is important.
2. You do this by voting on the list that best suits you and your opinions.
3. Together we can make a difference and control which direction UiS should take.

However, here is a supplementary text so you can get some more meat on your feet!

The student choice can compared to a parliamentary election. Much of what goes on in a student election is the same as in a parliamentary election only on a smaller scale and for a limited group, namely students. At each election, make different lists, or parties if you will. These lists consist of ranked candidates and have a program that contains issues that are important to them and they want to work for. They are elected to a student parliament that chooses which issues we in the working committee in StOr will work on. In other words, the student parliament has the power to adopt matters that we in the working committee exercise - just like the Storting and the government!

For example, there are many who thought there should be more group rooms, more focus on mental health and greater student bar. This is something the student parliament can decide that we should work for!

Student Parliament works in other words, as the supreme body of choice for the students at UiS. This gives them the authority to make decisions on behalf of all students. That is - the Student Parliament speaks to the students' cause! The lists have many candidates, but not everyone gets a seat in parliament. It is up to you as a student to decide! The more votes, the more seats - and the more seats the easier it is to get support for their cases.

So use your voice and choose who should represent you and your opinions!
